Services We Offer
Counseling: All of our counseling is offered without charge. Our services are available to veterans of any era, not just the current one.
We offer psychotherapy by therapists with significant experience working with people who have PTSD as well as with vets.
We have a creative arts therapist who has had significant experience working with people who have PTSD.
We offer non-traditional therapy through a program called From The Ground Up, similar to the national program Horses for Heroes.
We also have experts in meditation to work with you.
Advocacy We offer advocates to work with vets and their families in dealing with 1) the Veterans Administration, 2) applying for public assistance: Medicaid, SSI, SSD. etc., 3) custody and visitation issues, separation and divorce. 4) certification as having PTSD.
We want to work with veterans who are AWOL in helping them sort through their options. We want to work with anyone in the Service who is interested in applying for Conscientious Objector status.
Referral We will seek out and refer you to the best legal, psychological and practical resource people in helping you with any counseling and advocacy issues that fall out of our areas of expertise.
We can also refer you to physical therapists, massage therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, acupuncturists, chiropractors, physicians etc.
Education We feature an outreach program very willing to speak to any interested groups and organizations about:
- Veterans' reintegration issues including PTSD
- How we as a community need to heal together from the effects of the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
- How a veteran's return affects their families and loved ones; and what would be helpful for these families.
- We are also interested in showing the film, The Ground Truth, a powerful and moving documentary made by and about veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. We would follow these showings with both discussions and healing work.
Support We offer direct support for families and close friends of veterans including listening, forming a support group, and individual counseling.
